The normal Local Rules of SILVES GOLF COURSE are set out below. From time to time there will be Special Local Rules and Winter Rules and details of these will be published and details will be placed on the board.

 

Out of Bounds (Rule 27)

  • Beyond any wall, fence or white stakes bounding the course.
  • Beyond the stakes bounding the Clubhouse and terrace.
  • Beyond the stakes on the left of the first fairway, towards the practice putting green.
  • The fence to the left of the 11th Fairway defines the limit of the course.
  • Any ball that crosses this fence is out of bounds even if it comes to rest on another part of the course. (eg the 6th & 12th Holes
  • 18th Hole any ball that comes to rest on or over the road to the left of the fairway.

Water Hazards (Rule 26)

  • Water Hazards are marked with Yellow Stakes.
  • Lateral Water Hazards are marked with Red Stakes.
  • Where there are no lines the Water Hazard margins follow the natural lines of the hazard.
  • On the 11th Hole, if you drive and you are unsure your ball is in the Hazard you may play a provisional ball from the tee.
  • On the 13th Hole, if you are unsure you ball is in the lake you may play a provisional ball for your aproach shot.

Ground Under Repair (Rule 25)

  • All GUR areas are marked by Blue Lines/Stakes or otherwise Red & White Tape.

 

Immovable Obstructions (Rule 24.2)

  • Irrigation Units including Sprinkler Heads and Control Boxes.
  • All course furniture including Information Boards, Bench Seats, Drainage Grills and Ball Washers.
  • All Buggy Paths & Service Roads.

 

Stones in Bunkers (Rule 24.1)

  • Stones & Rakes are Moveable Obstructions.

 

Young Trees

  • Protection of Young Trees which are identified by stakes, White Tags or Individual Wire Mesh : if such a tree interferes with a players stance or the area of their intended swing, the ball must be lifted and dropped in accordancewith the proccedureprescribed in Rule 24-2(1). The ball may be cleaned when so lifted.

 

Random Stone Walls and Ruins

  • Stone Walls on the course and the ruin to the right of the 4th Hole, including walls supporting teeing areas and buggy paths, are all an integral parts of the course.
  • There is no relief without penalty.

 

Aeration Holes

  • On the Putting Green a ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole that avoids the situation.

Embedded Balls

Through the green a ball that is embedded in own pitch mark in ground may be lifted without penalty clean and drop as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must strike a part of the course through the green.

Through the green : The whole of the course except-

  1. a) Tee, green & putting green of the hole being played.
  2. b) All hazards on the course.

 

Penalty for breach of Local Rules: Match Play- Loss of Hole, Stroke Play- 2 Strokes
