Just testing! Of course, Bill Withers greatest hit was "Lovely Day", and what a lovely day all of us had.
Many thanks to Rui and his team for allowing us to squeeze 12 tee times into 9 slots. It was really appreciated by the organisers that the men and lady members completed their round within four hours, resulting in no delays for ourselves - or the fee paying public.
The only title I could think of, relating to a "Fantastic Day" (a hit by the group Haircut 100 many years ago), which we all had - assisted indeed by the generosity of Stuart Deans - who supplied copious amounts of wine to all the Mens Matchplay participants after the game. Many thanks and happy returns Stuart, look forward to the "big one" on 14th November 2014!
12 men today, so three 4balls playing the "MMMsomes" game. No exciting tales to tell, apart from Kenny taking out his poor performance on his buggy - any nearly losing a wheel in the process (details on request from the man in question!).
Two really close games and one clear victory, with the Walker/Tweed duo "dovetailing" beautifully in the latter.
More great October golfing weather yesterday, and as it was the last Thursday of the month (being the 31st!), we are now a third of the way to finding out the 4th quarter league champion. League leader Chris Nickel only achieved 1 point by halfing his match, so the rest of us still have a chance.
A belated review of the games on Thursday 24th October. Just 9 of us, as the serious boys were Interleaguing, and some MMM regulars were away. So 3 threeballs, and we played the "split 6" matchplay game.
Charles, Wim and Don, managed to finish up with 36 points each - so, as "winners" they all achieved 2 league points each!
It is raining today (22nd October), so herewith the first "Epistle" from the Tweed on the newly created Mens Matchplay page.
In theory Thursday 17th was the 3rd game towards the last quarterly league table of the year, but (as has been well documented), our tee times on 10th October were moved to before 8am due to SIC's Club Championship competition - and that was far too early for the "social golfers" amongst MM regulars!
We have the usual 5 tee times on the last Thursday in October, from 8.24 until 9am. Probably the men will use the first 4 times, and give the 9am slot to any ladies who want to play.
Advance notice of November times, which are the same as October - apart from 28th, when our times are from 8.33 until 9.09.
However, the 21st November is Ladies Day, so we will have to ask for additional tee times at Silves - or play at Alto again as last month. More news as it happens.
