Who wants more consistency?
The Number 1 request I hear on the lesson tee is without a doubt, “I want to be more consistent”. After asking a few more questions, what this usually means is “I want to strike the ball more consistently”, or “I want to stop topping the odd shot, and hitting the ball heavy (fat)”. The best way to improve your ball striking is to focus on the location of your weight during the swing. If your weight is too far back (towards the right foot for a right handed golfer), then the “low-point” of your swing will be behind the ball - resulting in fat shots, thin shots, and topped shots (you didn’t lift your head, I promise!).
Every single player that strikes the ball solidly and consistently has the vast majority (over 80%) of their weight on their front foot at impact.
