Today saw the first of a series of masterclasses from Dave Brennan. Despite grey overcast skies nearly 20 members turned up to be educated in the art of chipping and putting.
Practice Golf balls may be purchased with €2 coins. You get a basket of 23 balls for each €2 piece you
put into the dispenser, hence a basket of 46 balls costs €4.As a club member of Serra de Monchique Golf Club you may however purchase them at a discount.
Serra de Monchique GC have been the driving force behind the new Algarve Scratch League.
Four teams are in the inaugural event, four players per team: Serra de Monchique, Pinheiros Altos, Palmares and Vilamoura.
Most of have been familiar with my written ramblings when I organised the Saturday competitions, so it may come as a surprise to learn that our web master has asked me to provide editorial material for the newly enhanced SdM web site.
You will probably be completely disinterested to know my family have been staying with me for the last two weeks, but the relevance will unfold. With 11 house guests leaving at the weekend and Maddy away in Holland, I spent Sunday moving furniture, tidying up and doing no less than 6 enormous washes of white sheets and towels. Today at Gramacho there were 6 matches between 24 members and guests of Serra de Monchique Golf Club and I witnessed yet another enormous WHITEWASH – as the “northern” team regained the North/South trophy with a resounding 6 – 0 victory.
The next round of the Quattro Club Challenge will be held at Gramacho on Monday 12th November 2012. The first round took place at Alto Club on Monday 15th. October in perfect weather.
A fun competition Alto members made us very welcome and we enjoyed an excellent inexpensive buffet.
The outcome was close run ... so all to play for in future matches ...

Just to keep you updated since my last email. As you all know, I have been trying to organise four games of golf between the four Pestana Courses, Silves, Alto, Vila Sol and Carvoeiro Club. We have decided it would be nice for 40 ladies to play at each event. You can enter as many as you wish and hopefully all four at each course.
