After several unsuccessful attempts our Presidents Day eventually took place, a beautiful November Day saw a large field of 60 members in the competition. As per usual it was a Texas Scramble format with some very good scores. The eventual winners were Peter Hatherley, Andy Richardson, Bob Coe and Judi Murphy.

Many congratulations to SdM member Marieke Hofmann on her hole in one at the 14th recently.
This was Marieke's first hole in one, courtesy of a beautifully struck 7 iron.
The Ladies VACS Trophy got off to a good start with a creditable performance at Vale de Pinta. The Home Club took the lead by only 4 points on 170 from Serra de Monchique on 166 with Vila Sol on 153 and Alto on 150. The 5 Individual prizes were awarded to Marilyn Bickley from Carvoeiro Club who was first with 38pts, 2nd Lynn Cook from Serra de Monchique with 35pt, 3rd Helena Sterner from Carvoeiro Club with 34pts, 4th Ginny Evans Barrow from Serra de Monchique with 34pts and 5th to Asa Baggstrom Carvoeiro Club with 34pts. So WELL DONE Ladies and we look forward to the next round at Vila Sol on December 3rd.

Restaurant A Tasquinha in Monte Carvoeiro was once again the venue for our annual presentation evening. This year the prizes were presented by Club Captain Ray Groves.
Club Champions 2015: George Cook and Lynn Cook
The winners of this years' events were as follows:
Monday 9th November saw the first round on the 2015/16 Fermon Trophy. It was held at Alto and included the inaugural participation of Silves International GC. The course was extremely challenging following the recent rains with the fairways being very wet and the rough very deep. This was reflected in the scoring which was some of the lowest ever seen in the competition.
SdM recently competed in the Finals Day of Interleague season. 17 Clubs attended at Golf Santo Antonio Resort, formerly Parque de Floresta in the Western Algarve. Although rain threatened it remained dry with relatively mild winds for this course.
A fine away victory and bonus point at Morgado has secured SdM second place in their division this season and sees us promoted to Division Two for next year.
Good all round performances saw us win 3-2 at a course that is notoriously difficult to get good results.
